Patrick Galvin

Patrick has helped increase credibility, visibility and sales for individuals and businesses, from sole proprietorships to publicly traded companies as the “chief galvanizer” of The Galvanizing Group, a marketing company in Portland, Oregon that specializes in brand strategy consulting and public relations founded in 2002. As a professional speaker and the past president of the Oregon Chapter of the National Speakers Association, Patrick has spoken to hundreds of associations and companies about branding, word of mouth marketing, and public relations. Patrick has been a popular keynote speaker at Big “I” state conferences in Oregon, Washington, Texas, and Oklahoma. In addition to his consulting and speaking activities, Patrick writes about innovative marketing strategies and tactics for a variety of publications including his monthly eNewsletter, his blog and on Twitter.

Patrick earned an MBA in international marketing from Thunderbird, the top-ranked international business MBA program in the United States. Upon graduation, he served as the international sales manager for an industrial and agricultural equipment manufacturer building and training a profitable sales network throughout North and South America. He subsequently became president of his family’s furniture stores which saw 300% sales growth in his three year tenure.

Patrick graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a BS in Foreign Service. He received a prestigious Rotary Scholarship for postgraduate studies at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. In addition to his native English, Patrick is fluent in spoken and written Spanish and Portuguese.

Brian BartoshBrian D. Bartosh, CIC, LUTCF
Brian Bartosh is president of Top O’Michigan Insurance in Alpena, Michigan, chairs ASCnet (Applied Systems Client Network) Interface Committee and is a committee member of the IIABA’s Agent’s Council on Technology (ACT).

Brian frequently speaks throughout the United State and Canada on agency and brokerage workflows and use of automation for higher efficiencies. He has been active in the insurance industry since 1979.

He has been a prominent speaker to the various chapters of ASCnet and on the international circuit. As part of ACT, he speaks to other user groups and independent agent groups on the use of real time transactions.

Brian has worked with many independent agencies and companies on implementation of real time workflows and automated workflows. He has also worked on implementation of agency marketing plans. His expertise in agency automation and a broad understanding of the agency insurance business has been very valuable to many participants of his presentations.

Wes BissettWesley Bissett
Wesley Bissett is President of the Bellemore Group, LLC, a public policy consulting, government relations, and regulatory compliance firm. The firm provides insurance and financial services clients with assistance on a broad array of issues in Washington DC, state capitals, and other national forums.

Prior to establishing The Bellemore Group, Wes worked directly for 11 years on behalf of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA), one of the nation’s most prominent and influential business associations. During his tenure, he served as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and State Relations and advanced the legislative and regulatory interests of IIABA’s members before state legislatures, insurance regulators and other bodies. Bissett continues to serve IIABA as its Senior Counsel of Government Affairs and develops legislation, provides technical expertise and offers political assistance to efforts that enhance the independent agency system. He also served as legislative assistant for U.S. Representative Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. (R-Md.) and graduated with honors from both Wake Forest University and George Washington University Law School.

Mary EisenhartMary Eisenhart, CPCU, ARM, ARe, RPLU, CIC, CPIW
Mary Eisenhart has spent more than 30 years in the insurance industry, both in independent agencies and with insurance carriers. In 1996, she became an insurance industry consultant, and is the owner of Eisenhart Consulting Group in Lincoln, Nebraska, a consulting firm dedicated to helping insurance organizations become extraordinary.

Mary has been featured in Rough Notes and other insurance industry publications, and has authored a Best Practices tool for IIABA, The Next Generation: A Young Agent’s Best Practices Leadership Guide. She has also chaired local and state Big “I” Education Committees. Mary develops and presents insurance industry management, technical, Best Practices, motivational, and risk management seminars throughout the U.S.

Scott HummelScott Hummel
Scott Hummel is Senior Vice President for Government Affairs with the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents. He is uniquely qualified for that position having served as a Michigan State Representative from the 93rd District (Clinton and Gratiot Counties) for 6 years. His experience on the House Insurance and Tax Policy Committees, as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee for 2 years has allowed him to seamlessly provide MAIA with important representation at the State Capitol. He was termed out of office at the end of 2006.

Prior to that, Mr. Hummel served on the Clinton County Board of Commissioners for 2 and one half years. He worked for General Motors for 25 years, primarily as a skilled tradesman building prototype vehicles. He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Economics.

Art JudsonArthur E. Judson, CPCU, ARM, CIC (Ret.), AU, AAI, ASLI, ACS, AIS, API, ARM-P, AIC, AMIM, AINS, L.I.C.
Art current serves as SVP of The Goss Group, Inc/Goss LLC, and has 52 year’s experience in commercial property & casualty insurance. He has been on the underwriting and agency/brokerage side as well as the “wholesale” side of the business allowing him the vast knowledge and experience that he has acquired. Art has participated as a defense & plaintiff expert witness in more than twenty five insurance-related law suits to date.

Art graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY, in 1960 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by Ranger training & guided missile service. Art holds the following licenses: Michigan Property/Liability Insurance Producer, Michigan Surplus Lines Insurance Licensee, Michigan Licensed Property/Liability Insurance Counselor (LIC) and Non-Resident Producer/Surplus Lines Licensee in a number of states.

Mary LaPorteMary A. LaPorte, CPCU, CIC, LIC, CPIA
Mary is an independently employed insurance consultant and trainer who began her insurance career in 1971. With over 30 years of agency experience, she held positions of agency Claim Manager, Personal Lines Manager and Excess & Surplus Lines Manager with Fifth Third Insurance (formerly Old Kent Insurance Group). Mary was a principal with Grand Rapids Holland Insurance Agency. She is licensed as a Property & Casualty Agent and Licensed Insurance Counselor in the State of Michigan.

She attained the CPCU designation in 1987, the CIC designation in 1992 and the CPIA designation in 2010. Mary currently is on the national faculty for the Society of CIC, serves as an instructor for the Society of CISR and is an active member of the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants. She conducts continuing education classes and acts as a consultant in the area of agency workflow and Errors & Omissions.

Dave WalkerDavid A. Walker, AAI, CIC, LIC, ARM, CRM
David Allen Walker, AAI, CIC, LIC, ARM, CRM was elected to the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) executive committee at the association’s Leadership Conference in New Orleans September 2009.

Walker began his insurance career in 1979 as an agent with Guarantee Mutual Life Insurance Co. In 1981, he joined Hartland Insurance Agency as a producer, rose through the ranks, and currently serves as president and principal of the agency.

Throughout his career, Walker has been an active association leader at the state and national level. He has served on the Michigan Young Agents Council, the National Young Agents Council, the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) Education Committee (including three years as chairman), MAIA Legislative Affairs Committee and MAIA Agency-Company Relations Committee. Additionally, he has served on the board of directors and as president of the Genesee County Independent Agents and the MAIA.

At the national level, Walker served for five years as the director representing Michigan on the Big “I” national Board of Directors. He has served on many and varied committees at the IIABA level during his service on the board and executive Committee.

Walker has received numerous MAIA awards including the Young Charger Award in 1986, the Aschom Education Award in 1997 and 2000, the Forsetlund Award (Agent of the Year) in 2000 and 2003 and the W.O. Hilderbrand Award in 2006 for his lifetime service and achievement in the insurance industry and MAIA.

Walker is also active in his community having served on the board of directors for the Hartland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Fenton Area Public Schools as trustee and president. Currently, he serves as Tyrone Township Trustee and on the board of the Michigan Basic Property Association. Walker is also a founding member of the Hartland Rotary. He and his wife, Barbara, live in Fenton, Mich., and have two grown children and two grandchildren.
