Chris AmhreinChris Amrhein, AAI
Chris Amrhein, like most true believers in insurance, stumbled upon this business accidentally; specifically, after graduating from college and needing a job.

After beginning in this business as a life-health agent, he graduated to property-casualty sales where he first met the greatest mine of comedy material existing today, the ISO forms. Following several years as a producer and independent agency manager/owner, Chris spent many years as a full-time educator/VP-Education for the Florida Association of Insurance Agents and VP-Education for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. Those years found him traveling about the country teaching seminars on everything from agency management to the claims made CGL. It has also taught him the absolute truth of Jimmy Buffet's famous observation about those who make a career of the property-casualty business: "If we weren't all crazy we would go insane."

Chris is now a speaker, consultant, seminar leader and training developer, and resides in Lorton, Virginia, with the love of his life (and wife) Donna and youngest son Alexandru (20). Mary EisenhartMary Eisenhart, CPCU, ARM, ARe, RPLU, CIC, CPIW
Mary Eisenhart has spent more than 30 years in the insurance industry, both in independent agencies and with insurance carriers. In 1996, she became an insurance industry consultant, and is the owner of Eisenhart Consulting Group in Lincoln, Nebraska, a consulting firm dedicated to helping insurance organizations become extraordinary.

Mary has been featured in Rough Notes and other insurance industry publications, and has authored a Best Practices tool for IIABA, The Next Generation: A Young Agent’s Best Practices Leadership Guide. She has also chaired local and state Big “I” Education Committees. Mary develops and presents insurance industry management, technical, Best Practices, motivational, and risk management seminars throughout the U.S.
 


Ann FloodAnnette E. Flood, Director, Department of Insurance and Financial Services
Annette E. Flood was appointed Director of the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder effective November 1, 2013. Prior to her appointment, Director Flood served as Chief Deputy Director of DIFS and Chief Deputy Commissioner in the former Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation.

DIFS is the State of Michigan department responsible for regulating Michigan's financial industries, including banks, credit unions, insurance, and mortgage companies. DIFS provides a focal point of consumer protection, enables efficient and effective regulation, and positions the insurance and financial services sector of Michigan’s economy for growth. The agency consists of over 350 professionals dedicated to protecting Michigan consumers by ensuring the companies that it regulates are safe and sound, follow state and federal law, and are entitled to the public confidence.

Prior to her serving as Chief Deputy Director, Director Flood served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of American Physicians Capital, Inc. (APCapital), a publicly traded medical professional liability insurance provider based in East Lansing, MI.

Before joining APCapital, Director Flood served as senior vice president, corporate secretary and legal counsel of ProNational Insurance Company. Director Flood has also held numerous executive level and legal positions at MEEMIC Insurance Company, PICOM Insurance Company and Lansing General Hospital.

Director Flood is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and a registered nurse, and has more than 25 years of experience in the legal, insurance and health care fields. She received her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School.
 


Scott HummelScott Hummel
Scott Hummel is Senior Vice President for Government Affairs with the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents. He is uniquely qualified for that position having served as a Michigan State Representative from the 93rd District (Clinton and Gratiot Counties) for 6 years. His experience on the House Insurance and Tax Policy Committees, as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee for 2 years has allowed him to seamlessly provide MAIA with important representation at the State Capitol. He was termed out of office at the end of 2006.

Prior to that, Mr. Hummel served on the Clinton County Board of Commissioners for 2 and one half years. He worked for General Motors for 25 years, primarily as a skilled tradesman building prototype vehicles. He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Economics.
 


Tom MinklerTom Minkler, CIC, Big "I" Chair
Tom Minkler, CIC, is president of the Clark-Mortenson Agency in Keene, N.H. Minkler is past chairman of the New Hampshire Association of Insurance Agents, past New Hampshire director on the Big “I” national board and past president of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents.

At the national association level, Minkler has championed the Consumer Agent Portal (CAP) project since 2009 and is past chairman of the Big “I” Government Affairs Committee. He has also served on various other Big “I” committees including the Professional Liability Committee, the Agents Advocacy Fund, the IIAA Agency Administrative Services board of directors, and the Captive Study Committee. He is a frequent speaker for the insurance industry and has provided testimony before the U.S Congress on behalf of the Big “I” on a variety of topics.

Minkler is active in his community and has served on numerous boards for charitable organizations and civic groups. He and his wife Heather reside in Keene, N.H. and have four grown children.


Jerry RhinehartJerry Rhinehart, CIC, CLU, ChFC, RHU
Jerry graduated from the University of West Florida in 1970 (College of Education). After teaching at the high school level for a brief time he moved into the insurance industry. He worked for a property and casualty direct writer for several years. In 1983 he and his wife open an independent insurance agency in Tallahassee, FL. While there he focused primarily on the life, health and financial services area. Additionally he began working in the Continuing Education field as a speaker and writer. The property and casualty division was sold in 1995. Today Jerry continues to operate Rhinehart & Associates - located in Panama City, FL where he works with clients concerning life insurance, long term care and annuities.

Jerry serves on the National Faculty of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He attained his CIC in 1986, his CLU in 1987, his ChFC in 1988, and his RHU in 1997. He is a director and Past ¬President for the Tallahassee Chapter of CLU and ChFC. He also served as a director and Secretary/Treasurer for Professional Insurance Agents of Florida and is a past Agent of the Year for that organization. He is a former national member of the Board of Governors of the Certified Insurance Counselors (Austin, TX).

Since 1986 Jerry has conducted more than 1,500 programs to insurance, CPA, attorney and Human Resource groups on topics that range from Estate Planning, Long Term Care, Life Insurance, Annuities, Business Perpetuation and Health Insurance. He frequently writes articles for various insurance trade magazines on the above topics. Additionally, he occasionally serves as an expert witness in legal proceedings regarding life and health insurance matters.



Dave WalkerDavid A. Walker, CIC, AAI
David Walker entered the Independent Agency system in August of 1981 when he joined Hartland Insurance Agency Inc. as a producer. He was prompted into the agency by his father-in-law, Richard Bayer, who had just started the agency in 1978. He currently serves as the President and Principal of that agency.

During his career, David has served on the Michigan Young Agents Council and National Young Agents Council. He has served on the MAIA Education Committee (chairman for 3 years), MAIA Legislative Affairs Committee, and MAIA Agency-Company Relations Committee. In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors for the Genesee County Independent Agents (President 1999-2000), the Board of Directors for MAIA, and as the MAIA President from 2002-2004. He currently represents MAIA as the State National Director to the Board of Directors for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. In that capacity he currently serves on the IIABA Professional Liability Committee and Big I Advantage Board of Directors.

David Walker is the recipient of the MAIA Young Charger Award in 1986, the MAIA Aschom Education Award in 1997 and 2000, the MAIA Forsetlund Award (Agent of the Year) in 2000 and 2003, and most recently the MAIA W.O. Hildebrand Award in 2006 for lifetime service and achievement to the insurance industry and MAIA.

During his career, David has taught many classes nationally for CIC, CISR and at numerous conventions. He is an instructor on Agent Ethics and Professional Liability, and acts as an expert witness throughout the United States. He currently serves as the professional liability consultant for GMAC.

Along with these industry activities David Walker has served on the Board of Directors for the Hartland Area Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Education for the Fenton Area Public Schools for 14 years, and currently serves as the Board President. In his spare time Mr. Walker enjoys hunting and fly fishing, and following the trends of his college alma mater the University of Nebraska.
